Mix the beef steaks with the soy sauce in a bowl and set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
Preheat the air fryer to 190C. Toss the peppers, onions, and red chilli in ½ tablespoon of vegetable oil and cook in the air fryer for 10 minutes.
For the glaze, reserve a teaspoon of sesame seeds for garnish. Mix the remaining sesame seeds with white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, light soy sauce, light brown sugar, and tomato ketchup in a small bowl. Pour the glaze over the cooked vegetables and return to the air fryer for 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Increase the air fryer temperature to 200C. Add cornflour, Chinese five-spice powder, and the remaining vegetable oil to the marinated beef, mixing well to coat. Lay the beef slices in the air fryer in a single layer, cooking for 7 minutes until crispy, shaking halfway through.
Once the beef is cooked, return the peppers and onions to the air fryer for 2 minutes to reheat. Combine with the crispy beef, top with sliced spring onions and reserved sesame seeds, and serve with rice or noodles if desired.
