Crispy Chilli Beef - perfect crispy strips of beef in a tangy spicy sauce. This is my favourite dish from the Chinese takeaway, so it has a lot to live up to.
Thinly slice the beef sirloin into strips and place them in a bowl. Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce and leave to marinate for 10 minutes.
Coat the marinated beef strips evenly with cornflour, ensuring each piece is well covered. This will create a crispy coating when fried.
Heat a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil. Once hot, fry the beef in batches for about 3-4 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Remove and drain on kitchen paper.
In the same wok, add finely chopped garlic and ginger, along with sliced red chilli and red pepper. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until fragrant and the vegetables begin to soften.
Add the crispy beef back to the wok and pour over honey and rice vinegar. Stir well to combine and ensure the beef is coated in the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
